Taka-Töölö Kindergarten is located in Sibelius Park, in central Helsinki. The new building is carefully placed in the landscape and the existing urban fabric. The compact building mass is located in the park next to a wooden building from the 1940s. The nearby Sibelius Monument by sculptor Eila Hiltunen, dedicated to the famous Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, is one of Helsinki's most popular statues and attractions.

The building's structure is made of massive timber, and the facades are clad in weather-resistant brick, suitable for the seaside environment. The warm-coloured glazed bricks reflect the building's surroundings. The choice of building materials has taken into account the building's carbon footprint and Helsinki's goal to be carbon neutral by 2030.

The kindergarten's interiors are wrapped around a central hall connecting the two wings, which serves as a mixing point for groups of different ages, an extension of the gym and a dining area. The spatial design of the different groups in the kindergarten has paid particular attention to the clarity, accessibility and equality of spaces.
